Window Cleaning Robot Motor Solutions | High-Performance Brushless Motors from Lihua Motor

November 10, 2025

Cleaning windows is a time-consuming and often risky task, especially for the outer surfaces of high-rise buildings. As modern architecture increasingly features large glass panels, automatic window cleaning robots have become essential smart home devices that ensure both convenience and safety.

Also known as automatic window cleaners or intelligent glass cleaning robots, these devices use a vacuum pump or fan system to generate negative pressure, allowing them to attach firmly to the glass surface. Guided by AI algorithms and sensor control, the robot can detect window edges, plan optimal cleaning paths, and automatically return to its starting point once the job is done.

1. Working Principle

The robot’s vacuum or suction motor generates stable negative pressure, keeping the device firmly attached to the window. The built-in sensors and control board help it detect boundaries and plan efficient cleaning paths — whether horizontally or vertically — while microfiber pads clean the surface by friction and rotation.

2. Structural Components

A standard window cleaning robot consists of five core modules:

  1. Base Frame – Supports the overall structure and integrates cleaning pads.

  2. Driving System – Dual DC motors drive treads or wheels for movement and turning.

  3. Suction System – Composed of a miniature vacuum pump, suction cup, and pressure sensor for adhesion.

  4. Position Detection – Micro switches detect frame edges and prevent detachment.

  5. Control & Power Unit – Includes PCB, processor, remote control, and power source.

During operation, the robot maintains constant suction while the driving motors control forward, backward, and turning motions. When the pressure sensor detects a drop in suction power, the controller automatically reactivates the pump to restore vacuum stability.

3. Motor Selection & Performance

Window cleaning robots require high-torque, low-noise, and energy-efficient DC motors. Common configurations include:

  • Main Fan Motor:

    • Brushless: BL3717, BL2719, BL2717 (external rotor)

    • Brushed: R395

  • Wheel Drive Motor:

    • Brushless: BL2413, BL2713, BL2913 (external rotor)

    • Brushed: R385, R390

  • Performance Data:

    • Voltage: 24V

    • Speed: 8700RPM

    • Current: <110mA
